Admissions

Skelmanthorpe Academy follow the Kirklees LA policies and arrangements for admissions.

Important - Is your child in a school nursery?

· A place in a school nursery does not give you a place in the Reception class at a school.

· Children who attend the school’s nursery do not receive guaranteed places or a higher priority for places in the school.

You must make a separate application for a place in a reception class.

You can find out about Kirklees admission policies and arrangements by looking on their website www.kirklees.gov.uk/admissions or by following the links below:

Starting a new primary school in 2015

Kirklees Summary

Kirklees organises admissions for young people starting a new primary school in September 2015, so that parents/carers only have to make one application to apply for a place at any primary school in Kirklees and/or any other local authority.

Kirklees residents may apply online at www.kirklees.gov.uk/admissions or complete a paper application form available to download from the website.

· for starting reception class use a Primary Common Application Form (PCAF)

· for transfer to junior or middle school use a Transfer Common Application Form (TCAF)

Kirklees Council will send all parents a single offer of a new school place on the National

Offer Day – Thursday 16th April 2015. If the place offered is at an academy, free school, trust school or voluntary aided school or at a school in another local authority, Kirklees makes the offer on behalf of the admission authority for that school.

Parents who live in other council areas must apply through their local council.
