Welcome to Owls Class

World Book Day

We had lots of fun celebrating World Book Day. The children looked amazing in their costumes!

Owls Open Door

Year 5, have been taking part in a two day Bikeability course in which they have learnt to: start and stop safely, ride in a straight line, use gears, observation skills and signalling.

We opened our door for the parents and showed them how we problem solved in maths. They were very impressed (in awe!) with the children's work.

Class Teacher - Mrs Jeanette Dearnley

ETA -  Mrs Wordsworth & Mrs Fisher

Welcome to our class page.  Owls are the oldest children in school and we are hard-working. Being good role models is important to us.  Take a look at the photos!  We hope that you can see some of the exciting things we do and how much we enjoy being at school.  Thank you.

Our topic this term is 'Out of Africa' Please look at the curriculum plan below for an overview of the planned learning.  It has a provisional list of activities, but as we encourage pupils to lead their learning, it is highly likely that we will deviate from the plan as we follow their interests!

Monday      Mrs Dearnley

Friday         Mrs Pogson

Please ensure that PE kits are in school on these days.

Guided Reading sessions take place every morning between 9:00 – 9:30.  We welcome volunteers to listen to reading groups.  Children in Owls are encouraged to select reading materials of their choice from a range of books which includes non-fiction and poetry.

‘Creative Choice’ homework tasks are set each half term and are topic linked.  Please see the link below.  Maths and any other activities will usually be issued on a Friday.  Homework is to be handed in the following Thursday.

Spellings are taught on Fridays, with further practice sessions in the week and tested the following Friday.

We all enjoyed our trip to the National Space Centre
